Auditioning Tips

Here are a few basic Auditioning Tips to keep in your hip pocket for when you are auditioning for that modeling or acting job:

First and foremost, you should be confident, smile, and always have a positive attitude . Be sure to act excited about what is happening around you, and always follow instructions. At many auditions, including the ones at Barbizon , we ask that you bring a recent photo with you for visual reference.

Next, always dress appropriately . Believe it or not, what you wear can mean almost as much as how you look to the auditioner or casting agent. Make them believe that you are taking the audition seriously by putting some thought into how you look. Be sure not to wear clothing that distracts from the real you. Keep jewelry, make-up, and clothing colors to a minimum. Keep your hair combed and simple. Also, wear shoes that you feel comfortable in.

Lastly, never show up late! If you show up late for an audition, brace yourself for disappointment. To avoid this, make sure that you know where the audition is being held well ahead of time. Not just the building, but the room or area as well. Imagine your panic 5 minutes before your audition when you're still running the halls searching desperately for the audition room.and then realizing that you're in the wrong building.

Modeling and Acting may seem easy. However, models and actors with training and experience are the most sought after. Taking modeling and acting classes, like the ones offered by the famous Barbizon Schools, will train you and help you to improve your existing skills. This will also help you learn these guidelines and more which you will need to follow when you audition.
