Making your break in the business

ACTING - TAKE ONE
What's good about the world of acting is that it is filled with a broad spectrum of looks. Think about all of the TV shows you've seen, commercials you've watched, and films you've enjoyed. Every possible "type" is represented from the quirky best friend to the ambitious business person to the jock football player. However, you cannot become an actor overnight. Actors need training and experience in different fields such as commercials, improvisation, voice training, monologues, and scene study. Many famous actors, like Tom Cruise, continually take acting lessons because the industry is always changing. One place many of today's working actors have turned for training is the famous Barbizon School.

MODELING - FRONT & CENTER
Being a model is not as easy as it looks, it takes training and commitment. General industry standards for Fashion Models is generally ages 14-21, 5'8" to 6' tall, size 6-8 with average weight of 108-125lbs. This body type looks good on the runway and in front of the camera.

The criteria for commercial print modeling in catalogs, product ads, store advertisements, clothing ads, etc. is broader in spectrum. Many department stores like Sears, JC Penney, Kmart, Kohl's, Walmart, Target, etc. are looking for "real people" types of all looks and sizes to advertise their products and services. These models are just what the name suggests: ordinary looking people to represent someone the average consumer can identify with in their ads.

Modeling and acting may seem easy, but those with the training and experience are the ones most sought after. Taking modeling and acting classes, like the ones at the famous Barbizon School , will help you learn the skills needed to become a successful model, or to just teach you confidence in general.

Just listen to what these people had to say about the acting and modeling programs at Barbizon:

"In designing an acting curriculum for Barbizon International, it is my hope that the training, experienced by some of the brightest stars of television and film since 1979, will enhance the talent and lives of many across the nation and introduce them to the joys of acting." -- Diane Hill Hardin, Young Actors Space (has taught Leonardo DiCaprio and Jessica Beal)

"I'm Drew Tyler Bell from the Bold and the Beautiful. I'm a proud Barbizon graduate, and I hope to see you starting your career with Barbizon soon!" - Drew Tyler Bell, stars as Tommy on "The Bold and the Beautiful

"Barbizon was the first step to a life that I wouldn't change for the world." - Lyndsy Fonseca, star of "The Young and the Restless"
